African Drumming

New class for Adults and children ages 5 - 11.

 
This class is designed to introduce children/adults to the world of drumming. Using movement, call & response, songs, games and rhythm instruments. Children/Adults will have the opportunity to explore their innate sense of rhythm in a non-performance setting.  Students will learn authentic rhythms from West Africa and the Caribbean. They will play West African drums and other percussion instruments. The class will also give students a fun opportunity to create their own rhythms.

Drumming in groups can boost the immune system, according to a study involving more than 100 participants and published in the Journal Alternative Therapies

Classes will be held on Wednesday Afternoons

4:15p.m. - 5:00p.m. for children ages 5 - 7

5:15p.m. - 6:00p.m. for children ages 8 - 11

6:15p.m. - 7:15p.m. for adults

Enroll for one or more sessions.  Sessions do not have to be consecutive.

Session 1:  September 10 - October 15

Session 2:   October 29 - December 10 (off on Nov.27)

Session 3:  January 7 - February 11

Session 4:  February 25 - April 1

Session 5:  April 15 - May 27  (off on April 23)

Tuition for 6 week session

Class size will be 4/12 students.  Parents/caregivers attendance is optional.
